Quickies: Short Stories For Adults

’72 pages, 30 writers, 1 track mind’ is our slogan for this most unique of ventures. We have set up a page called ‘Buy’ on which, on publication day, you will be able to mail order a copy. We also plan to release a Kindle version on the same day.

Quickies contains three kinds of stories. Some of our favourite writers submitted work exclusively for this collection. We also took public submissions and, although we rejected many more than we had space to accept, the sheer quality had our hearts pulsing.

Finally, you will see some titillating tales from the editors, the Flashtag Writers…

Then on Wednesday 28 September, it’s the event you’ve all been waiting for: the FlashTag writers’ very special Smut Night marking the launch of our wild and wonderful Quickies: Stories For Adults filthy flash fiction anthology. The collective will each read their naughty little numbers and will share the spotlight with “flash fiction grandmaster” David Gaffney, some of the dirty-minded authors specially commissioned for the book plus the successful  saucy story-tellers from the open submissions process.

Smut Night takes place at the Northern Lawn Tennis Club (clubhouse) on Palatine Road in Didsbury (M20 3YA) from 8pm on Wednesday 28 September and is part of Didsbury Arts Festival.

It’s Wednesday 7 September, 7pm in Barcelona Bar on Thomas Street in the Northern Quarter. It’s a mere quid in, and in return we will test your knowledge of poetry and prose, have fun and make merry. There are even prizes (though, sadly, no pets)!

We are pleased to announce the birth of our first anthology. Quickies: Stories for Adults will be launched on September 28th as part of this year’s Didsbury Arts Festival. More details will be revealed soon, layer by layer until the truth is laid bare.

The collection will include work by the FlashTag writers, pieces that have been specially commissioned from established writers, and successful contributions from our open submissions process. All the stories in the collection are no longer than 400 words, with sex or human relationships as some sort of over-riding theme. Because the anthology is called Quickies. Because flash fiction can be read in a short amount of time… so quickies… and quickies means sex, get it, get it.
